The traditional methods of drying compressed air can be expensive to operate and maintain. A typical arrangement includes an aftercooler and a refrigerated dryer. A reheat heat exchange system, like the R.P. Adams Economat, can help your business experience significant cost savings. In this arrangement, up to twenty percent of the total compressed air energy can be lost when the air is cooled to condense and remove moisture in the stream. R.P. Adams recognized this was a significant issue for many of our customers across a variety of industries. As a result, R.P. Adams developed the Economat Reheat System.
Economat Reheat Systems are custom packages specifically designed to add energy back into your compressed air system. This package is unique in the industry, utilizing the heat of compression to recover the lost gas volume and deliver clean, dry air without the need for an external energy source. Therefore, free heat is being provided to your compressed air process. The system is efficient enough to take the place of a refrigerated dryer, depending upon pressure dew point required and coolant available. Typical dew points range from 35°F to 90°F. The system also reheats the compressed air to temperatures desired for your process.
At this time, Economat Reheat Systems can be configured to virtually any system already utilizing shell and tube heat transfer products. While cost savings vary from plant to plant, we have found that in most cases, up to 25% of cooled compressed air can be recycled throughout the application once our reheat heat exchange system is installed.
